Took the kid to the pool this weekend. By 10am it was 91 degrees and I was already calculating how many rides we'd have missed by that point in the park. It's that kind of summer.

Bluey's Queue Dropped. Your AK Morning Changed.

Animal Kingdom's Bluey's Wild World opened May 26 with a virtual queue that filled in seconds. Both daily drops, 7am and 10am, were gone almost instantly on day one. Disney scrambled fast. As of June 2, the virtual queue is gone entirely. Bluey's Wild World is now standby only.

That sounds like a win. It's actually a planning problem in disguise.

The virtual queue, for all its frustrations, forced families to make a decision early: either commit to Bluey or free up your morning for rides. Standby removes that structure, which means families will now drift toward Conservation Station at unpredictable times throughout the day. The full Rafiki's Planet Watch experience, including the Wildlife Express Train, Jumping Junction, and Conservation Station itself, is all wrapped up in this visit. Budget 90 minutes minimum, not 30.

The train is the real bottleneck. It was never built to move E-Ticket crowds, and there's almost no queue space at Harambe Station. The virtual queue was keeping those crowds staggered. Without it, the train boarding area could become the worst line in the park on a busy morning, and you won't see that wait posted in the app until you're already standing there.

The play for families who care about Bluey: go early, aim for the first train departure after park opening, and don't try to wedge it between two Lightning Lane return windows. That kind of scheduling Tetris falls apart fast when the train is running on its own clock.

51 Minutes

That's the average wait across major attractions at Hollywood Studios, per Theme Park Shark's 2026 tracking data. Magic Kingdom averages 37 minutes. EPCOT averages 43. Hollywood Studios is 38% busier per ride than Magic Kingdom, despite having far fewer attractions. The park isn't bigger or more crowded overall. It's just that everyone wants the same five rides, and the park's compact layout puts them all within sight of each other. The result is a pressure cooker that most families underestimate on paper and feel acutely by 10am.

Disney After Hours at Hollywood Studios: The Math on 14 Rides in Three Hours

Tickets run $155 to $189 per person. A family of four doing Hollywood Studios on a summer weekday with Lightning Lane Multi Pass and two Single Passes for Rise of the Resistance will spend $200 to $220 in passes alone, still face 51-minute average standby waits, and lose the afternoon to Florida heat in a park with almost no shade.

After Hours runs 9:30pm to 12:30am with entry from 7pm. Disney Tourist Blog clocked 14 to 16 attractions in a single session. On a normal day, that ride count would require a perfect Lightning Lane sequence and six hours. The event is limited-capacity by design, which is why the wait times collapse. Snacks are included. The heat is gone. The park is quiet in a way it almost never is during the day.

The structural tip most families miss: Extended Evening Hours at Hollywood Studios are rare for Deluxe guests compared to Magic Kingdom and EPCOT. If your DHS day falls on a Wednesday and an After Hours event is scheduled, that's the closest thing to a perk substitute you'll find at this park. Book it before it sells out for summer dates.

Stop Buying Multi Pass at Animal Kingdom

DINOSAUR's closure reduced Animal Kingdom's Lightning Lane Multi Pass rides to four. Four. Three of those are manageable with a solid rope-drop morning. The fourth, Avatar Flight of Passage, isn't even on Multi Pass. It's a Single Pass purchase.

Skip Multi Pass entirely and buy the Flight of Passage Single Pass instead. That alone saves more time than a full Multi Pass day at this park. Animal Kingdom has no tier system, and standby lines run faster here than at any other Walt Disney World park on most dates. For a Deluxe family with Early Entry and a plan, Multi Pass at AK is somewhere between "minor convenience" and "completely unnecessary."

Redirect that spend toward After Hours at Hollywood Studios, where it buys you roughly three hours of reclaimed queue time. That's the real trade-off.

Three tools for two tricky parks

Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios reward completely different planning instincts. These tools cover both.
